In the case of medical applications, the object being examined is a human body. Passive ultrasonic ranging is typically performed at a fixed frequency near 2 MHz. In the case of medical applications, the true surface of the human body may be of interest for purposes of mapping a subcutaneous structure, particularly a blood vessel. It is also of interest to map the surface in the case of a buried structure, such as a bone or a metal implant.
One type of 3D-pointing apparatus is based on a beamformer which directs a narrow beam of ultrasound into the object being examined. The beam of ultrasound that is reflected from the object is received and processed to form a scan image, which is a map of the 3D surface of the object, using triangulation. The scan image provides a representation of the true surface shape of the object.
The beamformer includes one or more detectors for detecting the reflected beam of ultrasound. The detection elements and the beamformers are typically arranged on a mount or support which is a component of a frame of the 3D-pointing apparatus. The support may be referred to as a beamformer mount or a beamformer mount assembly.

Rebecca Rose Golden (born June 10, 1953 in Clearwater, Florida) is an American judge. She graduated from Northwestern University School of Law. Her father, Robert Rose, was a newspaper publisher, as well as a Republican state representative. Her husband Charles Golden, a lawyer at LeBoeuf, Lamb, Greene & MacRae, helped her apply for the position of presiding judge of the Sixth Circuit.

She was one of five candidates considered for the position. Judge Harris-Fort also said “she is about as close to a Republican as you’ll find.” She was the first woman and the first Democrat to win the position. She was the youngest justice and the first to serve as a resident of Florida.
