Forms and SQL in WordPress

Is it possible to use a normal form in WordPress and keep the validation when submitted. I am using the standard Contact form 7 plugin and I want the email to be validated, but I also want to insert the email in the db.

The Contact Form 7 plugin supports a hook called after_submission. This hook allows you to run code after the form has been submitted. The form is submitted through the submitHandler method.
In the plugin’s code you can do the validation using wpcf7_validate_data_after.
In your functions.php add:

function my_plugin_after_submission($form_data) {

if (isset($_POST[’email’])) {
$email = $_POST[’email’];
$fp = fopen(“/path/to/fp.txt”,”a”);

//validate your email…

//write to the file
